Oh Preethi, I feel with you. This piece is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Where is it originating from?
I have recently bid on an extremely rare Omani anklet which is worth several thousand US Dollar. When the auction came, the item was passed despite me have a confirmed bid. I immediately complained and was eventually offered the buy the anklet at the initial price of UK Pounds 130, a bargain, which I did of course. I will post it once I receive it. I have once purchased also a necklace with the same pattern, which is absent in today's bazaars. With kind regards. Peter

I have chatted with a collector in the very exhibition room over this very lovely necklace. He was pretending it was not worth it for the coins used were not original despite the fact that it was common with jewelry from around the islamic world/India..... to use fake coins.
I tought he was mad, as this necklace is just deadly beautiful and very large and totally complete. Being the first one i have ever seen outside a museum. I tried my luck but the bidding was fierce and i had to let it go.

The auction was packed with many passionate collectors and the lady who put these jewels for sale had obviously made many of them happy!

Good to know you complained. There was a wonderful gilt silver south Indian necklace at a recent auction that I oh so badly wanted, but my request to participate was denied - no reason given. I should have called and demanded the chance to bid....The necklace went for about 140 dollars, a fraction of its market value.

Well, if the elusive Madame D decides to auction off more of her jewellery, I will have to make an effort to be there on the day.
