Old north african necklace

This is a creation using very old Libyan silver pendants strung with south Egyptian silver tube beads..

  • Looking good! I love such "silver only" combinations... The silver tube beads remind me of similar tubes used in Northern Ethiopian telsum necklaces where they function as spacers (difficult to find - I've been looking for them for ages).

    YOu are right, well i am assuming the tube beads are south Egyptian since i have bought a strand of them last time i visited Egypt, but it could be that the dealer received them from firther south from Ethiopia

    Could be that these spacers were common all over the region

  • true, the tubes can be Ethiopian, had them also made on order as there are not so many about, just

    like Betty writes.  they can be like on your photo or with an extra ring as decoration in the middle.
