  • They are gorgeous, love this style a lot. They look Ethiopian or Yemeni, only the Ethiopian beads have only two or three rings ttached to the bead, to put them on a string, and not this closed roll. But I am not the expert... certainly someone else knows more. They are absolutely beautiful!

  • I would trace these back to India? Like Eva wrote, Ethiopian telsums are 999.9% with two or three loops. There are some with the solid tubes on top, but not corded like these and they are mostly on the little barrel shaped or on some unusual square boxes. Beautiful pieces ,great workmanship

  • I'm going to venture that these are vintage Egyptian pieces. I have a similar pair of earrings. These are hallmarked, so that should pinpoint where for sure.

  • Could be, I am not familiar with Egyptian jewellery. Are these hallmarked as well?

  • Thank you Eva, Ingrid and Hillary :) I think they're hallmarked... there's a tiny mark in the centre of the bead which looks like it could be a stamp (I'll have to get my magnifying glass out it's so small). There's no mark on the back...

  • That mark, could it be an airhole?

  • The remind me of telsums.

  • They do look like telsums but are not to any design I`ve seen. I don`t think they`re ethiopian.

  • Lovely pieces. Telsums (charms) these are not Ethiopian, granulattion in Ethiopia always goes together with fillegrain.  The loop (string eye) of the telsums of Ethiopia are always three or two. Only on some very old ones (square shape) do have a solid eye. I would place these more in India.
