  • Beautiful Peter, I love how the decorative little checkers are reflexting the larger checkers on the amylet box. The whole gives an well balanced and generous picture.  Love also how the bells are connected with each other preventing loss. Top!!! Gr. Ingrid.

  • Dear Ingrid; Many thanks for your comments. I have not seen many necklaces where there was a connection between the individual units incorporated. The dealer from whom I have bought this necklace, used to have a similar necklace without the side dangles being connected. I always felt that it looks somehow unnatural and put together from individual pieces, hence, I did not buy it. Only once I have seen this unit, I really liked it as with the connections, it looks very elegant and the design really makes sense. By the way, I have several Bulgarian chocker necklaces, which feature such connections. With kind regards. Peter

  • This is beautiful and unusual, I do not remember seeing one of this design before.  I like the little hamsas, and the gaping mouths of the bells, and most of all the chain of the side pieces.  The interlocking connections remind me of how fine labbahs are locked together.

  • very beautiful Peter....i can see those small "trident" shaped pendant very similar to the Omani ones!! could this be from around the border between both countries?
  • Dear Ala'a; Many thanks for your comments. Yes, I would allocate this piece to the Hadramaut area or at least the southern part of Yemen, hence, quite close to Oman. With kind regards. Peter

  • This is very unusual, Peter. What a find. Yes I agree it has several Omani-like features, not least the decoration the chains. Have you seen others like this?

  • Dear Thelma: Many thanks for your comments. Yes, as mentioned below, I have seen a similar necklace in the same shop some time ago (he still has it) but the side dangles were not connected with each other. That particular piece gave me at that time the feeling of two necklaces in one. However, with this particular arrangement, hence, the side dangles being connected with each other, the necklace makes much more sense and looks very good indeed. In this necklace's case, the bride had the age of 20 when she got married (one dangle per year). I might be tempted to purchase also the other piece... It is too big and heavy to wear nowadays, which is the reason why it has not been sold yet. With kind regards. Peter
