Magnificent, Linda. Difficult to know where to begin. There are so many pieces here - a lifetime of collecting and selling. There must be many that were hard to let go. Thanks very much for the record. The photographs are really good now.
Many of the pieces were either mine personally or inventory and or by consignment. I work with many collectors or dealers trying to find homes for new items. i still collect but getting harder to find the quality I'm personally looking for. I do come across things, but again the prices are more then years ago so it is harder to afford items and i buy less and rarer things that I wear . I don't buy for a collection as i used to unless i use it, and primarily my collection consists of things I use. Traveling also has made use harder in that I can not wear many hair sticks (seen as weapons) can not come through customs dressed up primarily because I'm pulled out and don't blend well with the pedestrian look of what has happened now with travel /vs comfort. I live away from a city and don't go out to parties as often or openings. I feel it's a shame and don't want to give up but the use is not as much, so for me it's been a down turn to the ability to really enjoy the use of the collection. Similarly I would guess collectors who wear things are more and more hassled with these issues as well and then it becomes one of convenience to use them. and yes I decided to delete all the old bad photos and am slowly re posting items. I have taken now about half of the collection and will be posting more as i re do them. these new photos were shot for the catalog i did for the Parcours. They are better then the separations done for the actual catalog and the colors are more like the actual items.
Linda I love your interesting and a bit sad path of the elaborate ethnic jewellery lover and wearer. I followed the necklaces you displayed on this serie. One after the other stunning pieces. I do favor very much the Yemeni pieces. (those are so close to my taste of Ethiopia.) but of course my eyes are also enjoying the other collectables. Thank you Linda.
