Mr. Mnouchi

Maison D'Orient is a dusty and chaotic place, but it is full of interesting bits and pieces.

  • Is it Tunis ? or another medina? Great photos, keep them for your future articles, they are very atmospheric! But where are the cat and the wolf?

  • it is Algeria ( ghardaia by the Mzabs )

the wolf and the cat where on the terasse of this store

  • Oh my God! Didnt the wolf eat the cat?       .......... Could have attacked you as well!

For anyone wanting Tunisian jewelry and Rihanna chain (and not spending their life in the old medina like Edith!) I have spotted something nice on ebay (cant afford anymore this month unfortunately otherwise I would have gone for it!). no 220 976 247 826.  Ebay .uk. I think that the price is reasonable.

    Good luck.

  • Thanks AIt for the photos...I can see that we both love dusty shops with hidden treasures!

Chantal: in answer to your question this is the older Mr. Mnouchi (relatively speaking)...I am guessing that he is in his mid to late 50s since the son appears to be late 20s/early 30s...he seems to be remarkably well-preserved.  Perhaps it is because of some magical force inhabiting his shop?  Perhaps it is a friendly Djinn!
