  • beautiful and unusual belt. this piece deserves more attention.

  • Yes it does. It actually is a good wearible on too. Both men and woman have tried it.

  • Very unusual design. But a few definable pieces which indicate from Caucasian influence. First and most important is in fact two belts incorporated in one. First is waist belt and second is shashka belt which has shoulder belts and then two hanging down straps that attach the shashka. (Sword)
A shashka is a sword which hangs in a reverse position meaning the cutting side of the blade faces up. These swords were used in the whole of the caucuses from south eastern Ukraine to Far East in Caucasian territories and Black Sea and in some regions with ottoman influences.
  • And forgot to add it also has a utility hook primarily used for nagaika or horse whip.
  •  The silver work is what defines it.  This is Central Asian because there have been others published with same work in books on Uzbek leather work and belts, some Kazakh too have same type of metal work.  The work on the pouches also are same as on other belts that are in books from these areas meaning the silver work and style of the work. It could have been made in one place and used by people living in Afghanistan but the work is from people living in Central Asia.
