  Very impressive and  high quality cuff. This type is called locally 'Suar Bu Tuma'. From the simplicity of its engravings it seems that it is an old cuff. The  Hall Mark which is quite clear does not show the Tripoli

  Municipal Mark. Therefore it may be the mark of the Silversmith who crafted the piece. Very interesting and beautiful. Congratulations for this rare piece, and thanks for sharing the picture.

  Thank you for remarking on it. I have not so much knowledge about pieces from this part of the world. I can tell it's quite old, very high grade silver and it actually looks much better in person.  I do not have many books on this kind of jewelry so any information is helpful.  I have another one that is worn flat and has marks inside also . The only two i have like this. We don't see them as much  here in states as in Europe , especially Paris but both were purchased here. The other one I have had for about 15 or more years and am now selling it also. thanks for the information!

  Unusual engravings and you have photographed it so beautifully with the warm, soft glow of old silver.  A beauty, good luck in selling it.

  thanks, would rather keep it as it goes well with some Tuareg ones i wear all the time.. but this is the nature of the beast, selling things one likes. very difficult!

  I'm glad everyone likes it!  Now lets see it move on to a new home!  It looks better in person ! The other smaller one that is like Peters is also very beautiful, has very high grade silver like his and also was mine for years in my personal collection.  These two are the only two i have owned of this particular style of cuff.  The other is almost worn flat but the silver is very very pure .

   Dear Linda:  This picture is for an Egyptian cuff crafted by Mohammed Mohammed El Mekkawy. The work of this silversmith are common in Libya and Egypt. The style of the cuff is quite similar to yours. . It is likely that it was crafted by the same silversmith also.Just a piece of information that may interest you. Picture below shows the cuff crafted by El Mekkawy.
