Silver alloy ‘muskalık’ (amulet-holder) with the representation of a sitting stork (‘leylek’). From western Anatolia, late-Ottoman, c. 1900. In Anatolia, the ‘leylek’ has traditionally a connotation of good luck and also of pilgrimage. Cylindrical box: width 108 mm & Ø 19 mm. Length of chains: 2 x 32cm.
