  • I have never seen such a piece before! You think it's Kurdish. The dangles are very unique. The piece as a whole spontaneously reminded me of the Palestinian necklaces with their many khans pendants (forgot the name, sorry!)....

  • Dear Dagmara and Betty; This beauty reminds me of the Palestinian Hands of Fatimah necklace! However, I have also bought head decorations from Bulgaria with similar looking dangles - most probably Ottoman. A very special piece! With kind regards. Peter
  • Dear  Betty and Peter; I made a quick research about these Palestinian necklaces you told me about and I am lost. I observed that the threading (if I can use this word) of these dangles is similar to Palestinian pieces, but these dangles are strange (definitely not hamsa's).

Peter, I'd be very grateful if you could share with me a photograph of these Bulgarian decorations.

If you don't mind, I will put this necklace under discussion on facebook to gain some informations.

    Best wishes!

  • Dear Dagmara; Many thanks for your message. I will post my Bulgarian head decoration together with the matching buckle separately. I am on my mobile phone (at Frankfurt Airport waiting for my connection back to Dammam) and cannot insert photos...
Anyhow, "Hamsas" or "Hands of Fatima" (daughter or prophet Mohammed) are not always coming in the shape of actual hands. They come in all kinds of shapes and are fulfilling all the same protective purpose! What Betty meant, was rather the way the dangles are mounted on your lovely piece, which is very much like the Palestinian necklaces...
Anyhow, I am posting my Bulgarian piece now. With kind regards. Peter
