Hey Frankie...bugs?
Very like, methinks! They look all ready to pop out some silkily unfurling wings!
Sold thanks
Sarah, you describe these pendants as jewish pendants. They are exactely pendants which are worn in Ethiopia, except that they have hinges on the top. I always thought that they were a deformed impressions of the hand of Fatima. They are worn by the moslem ladies in Wollo and surrounding and that muzzles me. I think it is a mystery to most of our members. Do you have any more information?
Gr. Ingrid
These would be seen sewn onto a headdress. I have an image somewhere, I iwll try to find it or a reference for you. These were citadel pieces from the atlantic coast from memory.. once i have referenced my thoughts will respond again

Thank you Sarah, also in Ethiopia they are worn on a band on the forehead (headdecoration as well as around the neck. So it could have become an adapted custome. I await your further thoughts.. specially for what they intend to feature.
Here is a reference to an earlier model, itis fron a Jewish headdress , Tetouen Morocco . I think that the symbolism is rite of passage such as metamorphic ie single to married.
I am disinclined to believe the Khamsa theory, although can see how it is tempting!
