  • It is very interesting.  I can't make out what the Arabic says.  It does remind me of the Tuareg beads of this shape.

  • interesting piece Jose. it says: wa fatehna laka fathan . in arabic

it is not tuareg. looks a little like a piece of tuareg wedding necklace " igourou". how is the size ?? over 15 cm  ??

can you please add more fotos of  details??

  • the form and decoration at the brim resembles a Tuareg object, but the middle.... Do we know what the writing means? The words are given in the comment below, but not the meaning....  Could it  be a Special Southern Cross from Lybia,  Algeria or further east (Sudan e.g.) ?

  • Splendid. The background is great as well, what is it? have never seen one so big....

  • The verse is obviously from the Quran, something about victory. But we have specialists here......... I am only a searcher.

  • we have opened you an opening? or we have won you a victory? or...if its about wedding, something more...symbolic? there must be someone pious here who knows his/her Qur'an by heart!

  • This is a silver cross-guard of an islamic sword! Hence the protective phrase written in arabic which says " Verily, we have granted you a manifest victory", a excerpt from the Quran

Very interesting item, must be pretty heavy

Here are pictures of swords with a cross guard!

I guess pretty late work, but not contemporary
