  • The caption although correct about the geographical origin does however mistakes the moors which constitutes majority of Mauritanian people with Tuaregs

  • Alaa I was also surprised that the Tuaregs came into the picture according to this capture, but as I am not familiar with that region of Africa I kept sient. I must say that in many books captures on items I know about do often not tally  of what I know from live experiences.

  • Well difference between both groups is often quite difficult to observe for the non initiated and i have noticed that on all the material geared towards the western public it helps writing "Tuareg" as it is often positively loaded with a more "romantic" image of everything related to pure/proud/wild Sahara desert.

But truth to be told : Moors and Tuaregs are cousins on the anthroplogical/ethnographic level

  • So right Alaa, and as the books are meant to capture the interest of a wider public than just the small group of Ethnografic interest it does the job. But it might trigger deeper interest and than it has doen its job, Gr. Ingrid
