  • Very refined work of the Ethiopian/Eritrean  silver smiths.  Many of the jewellers in Eritrea were of Tigrai,Ethiopia.

  • Gorgeous, Ingrid. I very much like this style. I have some that are gilded and have been turned into a necklace which is one of my favourite pieces, too.
  • Hi Betty,  yes there are a couple of guilded ones.  Not to many though.  I have one set copied in gold, but that is not traditional, one lady of should be now of 95 yrs. had she lived, has only once see a set in gold and that was rare, the owner was a business woman( her own boss with good funds.)

    GR. Ingrid.

  • Very interesting - I really regret being so preoccupied with other business when I was staying in Eritrea that I never had the time to talk to the ladies about their jewellery...Here's a picture of my gilded pieces I think I may have shown it to you before...):

  • Betty, I have seent his necklace before (it is with the telsum in the centre?  But I didn.t realize it was guilded.  They are beautiful. well made and so softened. They are so refined to wear as a necklace.
