Karie, this is not so much "primitive" as recently made - in such a way as to SUGGEST something primitive. That is not to say that you should not like it - such a choice is personal. It is said to help in identification. These pieces are on the whole quite modern, and made for tourists. They appear to find many ready buyers.

"Joost", please, Karie! It could be a FEW decades old at best - more likely it is more recent. if you oxidise silver or make some other metal tarnish it soon looks "old". That has probably happened here, though there could also be some weathering (particularly with some base metals). The idea behind making such a piece is to suggest that this is somehow as you say "primitive", i.e. a product of a culture still alive, or even something quite old. In fact, these designs are all from recent decades, and intended to create the impression that they are older/more traditional than they are.
I like it, Karie. But then I would. Maybe you`ve seen an earlier photo of mine! Ok, this type of adornment shows no skill of execution. I have never thought they were old. But I see a prominent german seller of some knowledge and experience has seen fit to offer a couple of pieces on her website. She claims they are old. Whatever, I think your pendant is fun. The debate about what is ethnic or becomes ethnic goes on.

Very ornamental and eye catching.
Whether one likes or dislikes a piece like this is of course purely a matter of personal taste, and I said as much. My only concern was with correct identification.
