  • that looks breathtaking! (I must admit that I have no idea where or what Gazni is/are, but I will find out...).
  • Ok, I googled it, it is a province in Afghanistan... nice!
  • Competent work - but I find it a bit too sharp for my liking. Am I right in thinking that this is not very early? It doesn't seem to be ...
  • I can't find my notes but I believe this is probably latter half of 20th C.  But with every year it gets older!  ;-)  I find these pieces with all the little stones somewhat reminiscent of the Zuni petit point work.
  • Karim, does this piece have turquoise and glass inset?
  • Hi Kim

in fact those are tiny turquoise' s cabochons and the bigger stone is a carnelian. I've got the matching one so it is a nice pair even if not very old.

    cheers K

  • The variation of colour here, by itself even, in "the turquoise section", suggests turquoise rather than glass, though in some cases people may have used mixtures of glass, or some may be replacements - so variety alone is not, of course, a definite guide to the material used.
