  This is beautiful. The top line is Arabic, the word looks like KMY-S (I'm not sure about the fourth letter, hence the dash); I will keep trying to identify this. The bottom line is a talismanic script.

  I now think that the Arabic word probably represents كهيعص , which is not a real word but a combination of five letters that appear at the beginning of Sura 19 of the Koran. Usually the letters are written separately, as they appear in the Koran, but on talismans they are sometimes written in joined-up writing to form a "magic word." This set and the five letters from the start of Sura 42 are the ones encountered most often.   Nice nice Graham, i m not sure if it is exactly the wroten word. It looks like the h is actualy a f in arabic, after it (ssin) s . But you can be right if we read it fom other view

  Hi Ait, I agree that the inscription isn't completely right for the interpretation I've suggested, but  talisman makers can sometimes be quite inaccurate or be using a flawed template. But I'm certainly open to other interpretations if you can come up with a better match that makes sense.
