@Thank you very much Peter and Betty. yes, they are decorated on the sides. What I particularly liked, are the beads in between the telsums, I have several telsum necklaces, but not a single one (apart from this) with beads. I am not sure what material the beads are made of....perhaps coin silver, I really do not know. But I have cleaned it a few times and it starts to get nicer and nicer. There must be some silver in the material.
Looking lovely Eva. So from the photo I cannot judge it too well. If the beads are Jimma beads they should be almost sterling silver. Lovely telsums ,Wollo province and adjacent areas. Oromo is not a correct indication, because Oromos are living all over midden and southern Ethiopia, they moved all over in search of land to settle. So by now they are defined like Arrusi, or Wolega, or Jimma, or Sidamo etc. etc. So Oromo doesn't indicate the area.The telsums looks like the real thing, silver and old?? These types are not as many around as the simple ones. Very nice find Eva. Gr. Ingrid.
@Thank you Ingrid, I was hoping you would comment on this. I had a Feeling that the indication "Oromo" could be wrong, or too inexact. The seller bought it some decade ago herself in Ethiopia on travels.About the material, I do not know. All I found so far, that by cleaning it, it has won a lot, it sparkles nicely and I really love to wear it. As said, the main reason for me were the beads between the Pendants which add so much to its Overall look. Otherwise I would not have bought them. Whether the beads are Jimma, I do not know, I am too tired, I will try to look at them closer again tomorrow But thank you very much, and also Betty and Peter.
