An embroidered vest (called ‘sarka’) from the central and Seyitgazi districts of the Eskişehir province. Part of the traditional bridal/festive costume. Made ca. 1960. A remainder of the so-called ‘Bahriye’-style (= ‘Navy’), which was popular in Istanbul in the early 20th century. Silver thread embroidery on silk; ‘kordon tutturma’ technique/applied cord. (Inv.n° cep017 - Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
