An embroidered ‘çevre’ (square kerchief; a decorative accessory, but also used in costumes by both men and women). From northwestern Anatolia, ca. 1925-1950. With the representation of four caterpillar-like creatures (probably silkworms), executed in ‘two-sided embroidery’ (front and rear are identical), using multi-coloured silk and metallic yarn. (Inv.nr. brdw054 - Kavak Collection,Antwerpen/Belgium).
