EARRINGS - CAUCASUS

I bought these fantastic niello earrings out of Bulgaria but believe that they are rather from the Caucasian region. Any information is of course much welcome.

Dear Peter: These look very Caucasian to me and believe I saw some similar earrings in Georgia last year (or possibly in one of the books I bought there). I will have a look tomorrow.

Dear Peter, very character full. But are these supposed to be worn on both ears or just one on one ear only? Like what is in several African countries the style? Gr. Ingrid.

Peter, I had a look at my photos and found a very similar piece used as a pendant. It was once posted by a member who said it was from Dagestan. I am a bit hesitant to post it since it has been deleted in the meantime, but I'll send you a private message.

I also found a vaguely similar earrings in my pictures from Georgia, but they don't have the same granulation:
