  • Very exceptional earrings indeed. Beautifully worn and complete. This is very rare. Congratulations! Peter

  • These are so interesting, Marc. A mixture of things. The beads at the bottom have Kazakh-like features. The long chains studded with turquoise cabochons end in strange and beautiful little bells. I wonder what the green stones are... do you think they are nephrite? And the gilded plates at the top inset with coral and with their strange decoration.....I haven't seen those before. They are a marvel.

  • Thank you very much. They are really special. @Thelma - Yes, though I sourced them in Afghanistan they do certainly have a Kazakh air (the lower part). I also think you are right about the green stone. It also reminds me of ammonite.

  • Hah, hah. I mean amazonite ...

  • Yes, I thought possibly amazonite as well. But I wasn't sure whether they had access to it in Afghanistan.

  • Looking at the lovely ear hangers, to me the blue turquoise looks like the reconstituted type. and the green stones makes me think of Chinese turquoise.
