  • Did you bought that in Morocco.

This bracelet is Kabyle from north algeria.

  • A beauty and most definately Algerian.
  • Hi Ayis and Sarah,

Honestly I bought it from a Moroccan seller that claimed it was Moroccan Berber.....thanks alot for your info!!

is it because of the nice work on the sides you all recognise it to be Algerian?? I am not familiar with Algerian jewelry at all, I see the Kabyle jewelry passing sometimes but that looks much different.

  • For me the proportions, cabachon setting and the styling of the scrolls give me the opinion that it is definately Algerian..S x
  • I think the design looks algerian, the shape and knobs appear Kabyle, as well as the corals.
  • The fact that this piece is Kabyle takes nothing away from it. it is a very beautiful and desirable cuff.

Out of interest which region of Morocco was it represented as being from if any??

    Sx

  • I purchased it from a seller that only spoke French wich I don't speak much so communication was minimum, it was presented as beeing Moroccan Berber, I just loved the bracelet very much and that was the most important thing for me......

Thanks you all for the help!! M-A

  • Actually, it is a lovely bracelet and relatively more rare than Berber pieces so nothing to worry about there.
  • Absolutely Patricia, this bracelet is hard to find and waay more intersting than any moroccan "berber bracelet"

Lovely repoussé technique, beautiful filgree and genuine coral cabachons

What are the dimensions? and weight if possible.

I bet the seller didn't even know this one wasn't mooroccan. IT happens  that many of the sellers in morocco only recognise a piece being old (i.e would cost a lot more than new)but they lack the expertise to be able to point out wich region it originates from.

    Beautiful piece

  • Thank you all for your thoughts, the bracelet was too small for my hands (have large hands) so I gave it to my sister she is wearing it now. Inner diameter was about 6 cm, height 8 cm, weight I don't remember, guess more than 200 grams.

Hope to find another one some day in my size.....
