what a variety of beads! There is a lot to discover! I like the blueish (Jade?) Buddha, never seen this as a bead before, and it s colour is really nice! The ones I had seen from Thailand were dark green.
I have a lot to discover about jade, Eva. I know very little. I know there`s nephrite, jadite, hetian etc. but not much more.
I think the cylindrical, paler bead may be older due to its` satiny finish.
My own favourite is carved bone one on the right - the Chinese monk called Boudhai, often called the laughing buddha.
Apparently the beads were collected by a Californian couple, who travelled in China and Japan in the 60s and 70s. They had them strung by a designer well know in California in the 70s sometime.
I know the necklace is not strictly Chinese ethnic but I`m glad you like them
