  • Love these Toya!

  • Thanks Hillary! I got them when I got the haha fibulas from the Florida estate sale. I love the ones with the doorway shapes. I have read that the design is meant to look like a marabout tomb.

  • Heaven on earth!!. You are lucky, Toya. They are great, congratullations:

  • beautiful collection! I love especially the two on the leftside!

  • Very nice temporals. Good buy!

  • Lovely Toya!!

The pair the the right are outstanding

I might add that these come from north west Morocco from among the "JEBALA" tribe, usually worn as temporals and sometimes thrown on the breast to join fibulas

  • The one to the extreme right is of a great historical value...it obviously shows that niello was used in this part of morocco....i am not aware of any book mentionning it

Left ones do bear a pin and are fibula like..... lovely

  • Ayis, thank you for  the information about these. The one on the right does not have any niello. I think the photo is just showing shadows in the incised areas. I love these temporals and have been looking for some for a long time. One of the joys of being a collector is the "find" after the long search!

  • yes sure i knew there is no niello but the little triangles are made to look like they bear some in the way decadent nielloed jewelry was made after the use of niello was abandonned.....

    anyway wonderful jewels
  • Oh, I see what you are saying. That is really interesting.Thank you!
