A bride and bridegroom. Yörük, village of Çamkalabak, near Ayvacık (in the south of the Çanakkale province), April 2012. The bride wears a traditional bridal costume and headgear. Family and guests have pinned banknotes to the couple’s clothes as part of their wedding gifts. The value of these presents are noted down, since they need to be returned when the people who gave them have a wedding in their family. (This tradition is a kind of premarital savings scheme).
