  • Absolutely wonderful.  They remind me of Marjorie Ransom's first bracelet, bought in Istanbul, which launched her love of middle eastern jewelry.  Thank you for posting them!

  • Gorgeous!

  •  Dear Peter,Nice set.  They do feel also so Omani to me because of its solidity. Very handsome.

    Gr. Ingrid.

  • Opulent delights!

  • I only see these now... absolutely stunning! Do you have any information where exactly they might hail from, Peter? For various reasons, I have a feeling this style is from Eastern turkey, Armenia, perhaps Syria...

  • Dear Betty; Many thanks for your message. You can find an almost identical pair in the book "A World of Bracelets" - Page 148. They identify it as Turkish. Eastern Turkey, hence Van, was the origin of the Niello works and Van is known to have by far the best and finest Niello works. I have a Niello belt from Van and believe me, it beats the russian Niello (at least in my opinion) - I can post the photo if you are interested. However, this belt is completely different to these bracelets - much more cosmopolitan. Since you have mentioned Syria, I was realizing that I did never really see distinctive Syrian bracelets. I have earrings and necklaces from Syria but no bracelets. Did you see any or have them in your collection? With kind regards. Peter
