  • interesting piece. looks ethiopian to me. usually the pendants are amber and a silver decoration, though i have never seen one with a star of david before. would be interesting to know where you found it.
  • Hi Betty,

I found it in the very South of Morocco and I saw a few similar during my travels there.

    Here are some more pics!

  • Hi Ineke and Betty, I can see your confusion Betty, the work done on the pendant is not Ethiopian style, similar pendants were made in Ethiopia but more with the Solominic crosses, and the stone would have been red amber or ressin, Ethiopia hasn.t done much with carnelian.  Stone cutting was not in the Ethiopian tradition.  This star of David looks a lot like the Ethiopian designs, but if you look at the postings of my Falasha crosses you will see one very much the same but....different.  What I do know that in Morocco there were or are(?) many jewish people so the demand must have been there also for David Stars?

  • Very nice and warm piece Ineke. So your camel does take you also into deep Morocco?  Gr. Ingrid.

  • Ingrid Yes, still there are many jewish craftsmen/silversmiths.

Og & by the way, I also travel by bus ;-) 2506010836?profile=RESIZE_320x320
