Belt with leaf-shaped, mother-of-pearl buckles. Late-Ottoman era, 19th century. Mother-of-pearl buckles with religious iconographical themes were often produced in Jerusalem for (Christian) pilgrims; belts made in northern Greek workshops were mainly engraved with secular subjects. Length of the belt: 101 cm. (Benaki Museum, Athens).
