Dear Peter, I have posted a buckle from Malaysia some time ago with the same workmanship. It also reminds me of Qing dynasty chinese work. Perhaps some silversmiths were Straits Chinese in origin?
Piece of treasure. Amazing with so much work. It must have taken a long time to put together. Congratulations Peter for this beautiful piece.
Dear Hillary and Mustafa; Many thanks for your comments. I could very well imagine that the silversmiths were Straits Chinese in origin. I will try to find the photo with the children wearing these belts. I remember that there was also an explanation on the origin of them. Once found, I will post the article. With kind regards. Peter
I think that this is very probably made by the Straits Chinese, Peter. I am not quite as certain as in the case of some other items you have recently posted, but still feel that it is less likely to come from other areas. They make spectacular work, don't they?
