I`m wondering if this has any connection with the windhorse of Tibetan buddhism. Often but not neccessarily related to shamanism. I was almost certain that, when we were discussing it, there was something lurking in the murky depths of my memory.

I believe there are variations of the creatures that can appear with the windhorse but he is invariably surrounded by four animals at the four corners of the globe.

I have no idea about the central squidgy face on the centre front.
