  • These beads are Yomut beads, they have gilded plates, nice old ones!. I think the small silver beads are not Turkoman. From India?

  • Thank you Johanne...Is the round box Yomut also?  The beads are very similar to ones that I have from India and Afghanistan.  I think it is a common tribal style, but they work really well on the necklace.  The beads you say are Yomut are beautiful!  I have one that I bought once from Cristina at Balthazara, but these are even more special.  The center pendant box though is really wonderful & not one that I've seen before.

  • I 'm not sure about this nice old bozbend (bazbent) -amulet box. In my opinion it has more a Tekke-tribe design. Maybe the Yomut use this kind of floral-design boxes too? One wears two of them sewn on the shoulders of their clothes. Or on a chain or chord round the neck.

  • thanks for the info Johanne.  I'll have to do more research to find out about its' origins!  Lynne
