  The silver / amber combo piece looks more Nepalise or Tibetan to me.

  Hi Patricia,  My designs are a mix of many cultures - the drop is from Nepal, the Amber from Tibet, the Silver beads in the necklace form are from India, and it is strung by me in California.  The name I chose comes from who I bought tassel from which was a dear Indian friend.  I have never seen another like this - to me this is stunning!

  Where is the silver and amber portion from?  I have a large bead in the same style.  I am thinking the Levant, maybe?

  Hi Hilary - you dd see I posted the is from Nepal?  I see per wikipedia:The Levant was a term used in France in the Middle Ages for geographic identification of Asia. Is this how you are usng it?

  Hi Kathleen, I'm using it in terms of the Middle East region (south of Turkey, but north of Egypt, fr.  If you do a google search for The Levant, It will give you some images of maps.  In Wikipedia, the article continues to describe it not just as Asia, but as referring to the Holy Land.  I'm sorry if it was confusing; I'm used to using the term to describe the Arabic dialect from that region.  It's commonly used in the archaeology field too.  I suppose I'm just not convinced that this (nor my bead) is from the Himalayan area.  The amber on my bead looks Baltic.  I suppose it could possibly be Indian from the style, but the amber portion really throws me off!  Such a mystery!

  I don't think this is a mystery, I think it is Tibetan or Nepalses, probably Tibetan, here is a little pic of part of a bracelet from the internet, has the same amber, silver combination.http://tribalmuse.com/antiquetibetantribaljewelry-realamberandornat... True, this is not a bracelet, but the amber inset in the silver is the same.

  Hi Kathleen!

  As the present owner of the bracelet, offered by Tribalmuse, mentioned by Patricia previously I can tell you a little of its` origins. It was sourced by an elderly Tibetan lady on the Tibet/Nepalese border. This lady escaped to the USA with her family during the Chinese so-called "liberation" of Tibet. She has asserted that the bracelet is a Tibetan antique. She makes occasional forays back to the border in the way of trade.

  I too have been surprised by the Baltic quality of the amber but trade routes have been many and various. Do you still own the necklace?
