  Hi Harold I'm not sure as I have packed it aleady for my show. I had it and wrapped it, and now it's being shipped out.  I would say it does because the orientation of the leather is also sewn on and that gors through holes on the side as well there are holes in the middle which it is strung through.

  This type of bead is called cross drilled and is worn in the hair by Fulani women and some guedra dancers too.

  stunning.

  It is a pity that the overwhelming majority of amber, coral, amazonite......beads do reach the market loosely and not in their original strings and setting like this wonderful necklace.

  We lose a precious ethnographic material that way...

  Linda your collection is jaw breaking as always. But then years of hard work deserves the finest items!

  You are absolutely right Ayis -as far as ethnography is concerned-  but..............its the only way some of us can afford amber or amazonites (i.e. buy them little by little , months by months., a few at a times.....).

  I think that only the Chinese market now and the Emirates people can afford the whole thing!

  I must agree with Ayis, it always breaks my heart to see people break up beautiful originals to sell loose beads, I even refuse to buy loose beads for that reason, also loose beads are much more expensive than you would pay for a complete necklace.  Also you would never be able to create such a lovely necklace as this one only buying loose beads.

  Yes Linda has the most beautiful collection I ever saw!!
