  Wonderful. The warm background suggests Africa (sand dunes, mud houses, sunshine  etc....). Perfect.

  An impressive collection Eva.  Quite a job to get them all in one picture. Like Chantal I do like the burned orange background.

  Thank you Ingrid. to be sure that I have them all together, I usually have to Count them....... Now they are all back, packed in Cotton wool and soft papers, except the ones I wear occasionally. I just grew into it, it was not intended at first to collect Ethiopian hairpins........! (But there are many things I do not have.......... like Murias, Jimma silver beads, Rashaida cuffs, etc.etc.etc. the list is Long........). But thanks to this place, I can enjoy looking at all the wonderful Pictures.

  Overwhelming, Eva! Thanks very much!!! What a stunning collection.

  Yesterday I went briefly through my collection of pics showing Ethiopian ladies wearing traditional jewellery. Alas I found very few wearing hairpins, but discovered that there are indeed modern versions which are still worn today.   @Betty -thanks a lot. I just looked at your link, it is overwhelming! I recognized various old hairpins that I have or have seen as traditional old Piece, now  in their modern Version, they look stunning! And I believe some are headdresses (chains with the round Pendants) as worn in Tigray (and obviously Eritrea). Of course I like also the southern Ethiopian ethnies, but my heart goes with Tigrean and Eritrean pieces! There is no doubt about that! I will look for a photo of Tigrean ladies wearing this headdress and add it here.

  Look at their head adornments!  I'd love to have one like that, although I could not walk around with it here, People would think I am nuts...............

  Funny, Eva, I also meant to post a picture of the small hair ornaments that used to be braided into the hair. I have never actually seen them for sale. 

  I am also posting an old (?) picture with a lady wearing a hairpin like one of yours, and another one with an Eritrean or Tigrayan lady wearing an array of lovely jewellery and some of the afore-mentionned small hair ornaments:

  @ Eva: the modern hair ornaments should be easy to come by (almost all Eritrean ladies I know own a set), but not cheap as they are usually made of gold.
