  • Preethi, congratulations. this is a jackpot. verry beautiful and almost impossible to find. you are verry lucky to find this beautiful pieces

  • can you recognise if the holes inside material  is silver or plomp  ??

  • Yes, love these.  The bottoms remind me of palm trees.  I would love to know all of the symbolism behind the keyholes and domes, etc.

  • Ait Ouakli, did they make these out of lead as well?!  Or do they do repairs with lead.  Lead and lead solder are very soft and are commonly used for repairs; is this what you are referring to?

  • Excellent condition! You rarely see them in such a pristine state.

  • Thanks everyone! Ait ouakli, the main body is in silver but the repairs are in another metal, possibly lead. The pins and rings seem to be a later addition too and not as old as the main body.
  • preethi: it is normal that the pin and ring are  repaired, almost all thus old pieces have been repaired and solded throw the years.

Preethi and Hillary. it is usual to find the lead . actualy it is unusual to find ones without lead. they were and still using it to fix and repare jewelry.

in this kind of wormholes fibulas, there is extra lead in some places to fixe and keep all together. without the lead, it gets all open apart.

i was thinking before if i write about it or not, maybe someone gets desapoibted but it is no raison for it.  it is authentic, original and necessary to have lead on thus jewels.

again,  a beautful pieces you purshassed

  • These were simply a joy to behold ! Well done on some fabulous choices Preethi x
  • Now this plays in the upper league, museum pieces!!!!
