A pair of earrings from Najd, Saudi Arabia

Preethi, they are GORGEOUS! Congratulations! I have such a weakness for Saudi turquoise and a pair of these earrings are high on my "list"!

Re: age, perhaps an expert will comment but I can't think they are very recent. There would be more examples if they were vintage. (Like the giant Yemeni necklaces that continued to be made in Saudi Arabia in the 70s.) This jewelry was out of fashion when Heather Coyler Ross and other westerners like our own Eileen Massard were collecting in the 1970s. So you have to allow enough time before that for fashions to change and examples to be sold and melted down. So without explicit references, my reasoning places these at 1940s or earlier. The ear wires do look softly worn to me, I think they were well taken care of by their owner.
