  • So pleased Eva, well pictured as usual.  Enjoy!

    Warm greeting Ingrid.

  • @Thank you Ingrid, it has already  become my favourite!  Am wearing it all the time. Of course, new things are bound to be worn more often, but this one really is special. I also got new things that I wore 2,3 times, and then no more......(even if I liked them), not this one! It is special to me.I might even wear it sometimes integrated into the telsum necklace.

  • Very possible Eva, that is also the way in Tigrai, because this Axum cross  is often worn in company with; first (shortest) a fertility necklace, than a bit longer the Axum cross, and than on a longest chain the Maria-Theresa thaler.  Or like in Eritrea, telsums and cross on one short or medium short chain.   The telsums in Tigrai or (Wollo) are mostly worn   on long strands of woolen on holidays when they are dressed in full sunday best (white cotton embroidered). All very becoming.  Like women all over the world we like to show of our treasures to their and our advantage.

  • @Ingrid, thank you, I did not realize that the telsums in Tigray are worn on Long strands...I thought they are  on short ones. Good to know! Sometimes one knows from photos, but here I did not remember. You are right,  I found a photo of a telsum necklace with a cross in the middle on a short strand, so this is Eritrean style.  And in "Africa adorned" is a photo of a woman wearing a Long necklace with telsums. .
