Gold thali (marriage ornament) from India

From Truus Daalder's *Ethnic Jewellery and Adornment* (www.ethnicartpress.com.au), p. 308: Gold Hindu marriage ornament ("thali") of very fine quality, showing the goddess of good fortune, Lakshmi, and birds. Tamil Nadu, India; 19th c. Height 9.2 cm. This photo is placed at the very beginning of the chapter on India in Truus's book, as we think it is such a good piece.
