Can anyone tell me anything about this necklace?

This necklace appears to be older. It is on a leather cord with 8 pieces composed of leather and either copper or brass with this patina. Each piece is seperated by a small copper or brass ring and there is one small cylinder copper/brass bead on each end. I would love to learn anything I can about this type of piece, the region it might be from, what it is called, anything at all is appreciated. Thank you!

  • Mbororo necklace, subgroup of fulani, north niger and mali

  • Thank you So Very Much ait ouakli.  Do you have any thoughts on how old it might be?

  • This is worn by the Peul People (Fulani) tribes of the Sahel, several countries, like Mali, Niger, etc. especially also by the subgroup of the Wodabe-Bororo (famous for their traditional Gerewol dancing, where they paint their faces (the men). Look at the book Africa adorned by Angela Fisher.

  • 2506012624?profile=originalThese are the People wearing such. They are called Peul (French) or Fulani (engl) or Fulbe (german), the subgroup Woodabe-Bororo is famous (see Picture). I have not found a Picture of exactly this necklace worn, but Ihave seen many.

  • Eva Baby thank you so very much.   I will look at the Angela Fisher book.   I'm so excited to be learning about this.
