  • these silver or other metal-capped beads are carved shell decorated with Naga-style motifs

  • Have seen several of These conches, but never like this (silver-capped), it does, of course, add a lot of positive impressions. Isn't this Tibetan?

  • the decorative warrior design of dots is a characteristic Naga motif.

either the beads have been made to appear Naga (more likely),

or existing beads have been capped with the metal elements in a Himalayan style later.

  • I did feel like these weren't as old as some of the pieces I have. Thank you for verifying my feeling. Should I remove the pictures from the site? I'm new here..

  • No! please do not remove any of  your Pictures, being something different than you thought, happens often. It is no reason to remove any Pictures. that is what this site is about -to learn things about ethnic jewellery

  • I have found in my bead box, several copal beads that have the exact same end caps as the Naga motif beads above. I'll add pictures in a bit. Online I've seen pictures of these possibly mass produced copal beads with these same end caps. The bead stores call them Tibetan beads. One called them Ethiopian Copal beads. Same bead, different story. I havent located any other Naga motif beads like these. Now I'm starting a search for Naga jewelry. What a beautiful people they are.

  • Every aspect of bead research is so fascinating!
