  • Wahhh, fabulous Jose. No wonder you dont do the worn out look......... Crisp and lovely detail...(Have started searching ebay.es just to see where you get these treasures from...... Dont worry I cant afford Oman as well as North Africa!). Are they hollow? quite spectacular.

  • Thank you very much for your nice comments. Yes, they are hollow and they make a nice rattle. I seem to recall that they come from the area of Nizwa in Oman. However, as Tribal H., points out I understand that quite similar ones can be found in some areas in Indus (Balouchistan, etc.). I guess that they probably originated there and the design spred due to the commercial routes and trade.

  • verry nice pieces jose. i have one with a floral sampl in the middle, not so old. it looks pakistan or afghan for me, i ll post later.

    congratulation for this beautiful piece

  • :-)  i m just burning encese from oman

  • Its nice Ait but dont do it regularly as its supposed to be carcinogenic!

  • I bought some frankincense from Oman but found it quite messy to burn at home with charcoal and so on. I guess I should get an electric burner. Not as nice as the traditional way but easier...

  • thank you Chantal. La mauvaise graine ne perrit jamais :-)

i have good encense, not mixed and i put it in watter with a candle under it. as soon the watter drys, i take the cabdle away

  • jose, buy a simple one with a small candle under it and add some watter. as soon the watter is finish, add some or stop it

  • chantal. you saw it corect, they burn it , at home, i prefere to do it this way and sometime, i just put it in my mouth as a bonbon

  • Thank you very much to all!!.

@Ait - Thank you for the incense burning tips. Does it work as well for frankincense in resin?. The incense I have from Oman is not ground or in some sort of powder or paste but "chunks" of dried resin.
