  • This shop was amazing, I sat down and sifted through a very large barrel of small glass beads, finding a few tiny treasures, I asked about many of the lovely items hanging from the ceiling...I was mesmorized...I wanted it ALL! But the items I asked about were hundreds of dollars..Then I think he noticed my star of David necklace (a birthday gift from my daughter) and he was much cooler than when we first entered the shop. I asked how much for these beads in the small tray in my hand ( nothing special, just some pretty glass beads, maybe $10 worth at the most) he said '$100 dollar!' I tried to haggle with him...he say 'How much you give me?' I said in the US these would be less than $20, he took the tray and dumped them back in the barrel...we left...

Everywhere we went in the Old City beads and trappings were outrageous, and understandably...it's the biggest tourism site in the world...

I found a nice, honest Jewish man who had a little table set up inside one of the malls...I bought some beads from him....nothing fancy, just a small handful of red carnelian and lapis lazuli beads and a Elat stone....don't know what I'll do with them...I'm more of a bead hoarder than a bead crafter

  • Too bad they think any glass bead is gold but I feel that is happening everywhere, alot of people sell pewter for silver at high silver prices too, very bad.

Also very sad he changed attutide towards you when noticing your star of David necklace.....I am glad afterwords you found that nice man so you could buy few beads from him.

  • Better than any candy shop!
