  • oh what a wonderful bracelet!  The Miao pieces have always appealed to me......
  •  There were some pretty interesting pieces that came out and now impossible to find. these have really good quality silver as do many of the older peices however there are alot of new items on the market in great silver, one has to really know the designs that are traditional and the manufacturing methods.
  • I think you have lived quite an interesting life through jewellery collecting, and each piece comes with it's own story, how wonderful!
  • Beautiful items!! Your collection is absolutely great. I wonder about the Miao, I lived one year in Thailand, when I was young, and I thought that one of the mountain people in the 3-countries triangle in Northern Thailand was also named Miao. Are these possibly the same people? They used to wear special clothes in black colour decorated with very very colourful embroidery and small silver bells attached. But there are quite a few of these mountain peoples there - called Miao, Yao and others (I forgot - it is too long ago). But you start to waken up my interest-

  • Gorgeous cuff!!  did you never intend making a book from your collected items?  You have the best collection I ever saw!!

  • At a later time I will add the specific groups on each. I was too tired last night and am leaving town soon, but yes there are groups of hill tribe groups on thailand  that are the same as the  ones in the  mainland

however there are differences. I used to know them very well off the top of my head but since this type of jewelry for the most part is all made new now and not in a traditional manner, I have stopped being active in it. I have not traveled to China in some time, (went all the time) and I'm starting to relapse into a vague memory. There are so many (150 or more ) Miao groups alone, as well as many others that I can not remember the sub groups without looking them all up. I will gradually upgrade date on these so that I can be more specific.

  • @Thank you very much Linda, for your comment. I was happy to read it.
  • Books take alot of time and money to produce, and right now I have neither!  I would like to have a book on my collection as a whole, not just the jewelry but other items that I own as one book, could be more interesting in some ways  but due to the commercial outcome of todays endeavors which is still pretty nil when you do a book, seems unlikely any publisher would go for it.
