Silk costume from the Seyitgazi district (prov. Eskişehir) / Turkey.

Traditional bridal/festive costume, from the Seyitgazi district (prov. Eskişehir). A remainder of the so-called ‘Bahriye’-style (= ‘Navy’), which was popular in Istanbul in the early 20th century. Silver thread embroidery on silk. The ensemble was made c. 1960. The jewelry (‘tokalı kemer’/belt & ‘muskalık’/amulet necklace) are older: 1900-1925. (Kavak Folklor Ekibi&Costume Collection-Antwerpen/Belgium).
