‘Seymen’ (or: 'Seğmen') costume from Akşehir (prov. Konya, Central-Turkey). Late 19th century. Costume of a ‘başıbozuk’ (Bashi-bazouk in English = irregular soldier of the Ottoman army). They were often former members of the local people's militia. (Kavak Costume Collection - Antwerpen/Belgium).
