These are very nice! I like the pieces of zipper on top!
harald
love These!
Charming pieces. Love the ingenuity of ethnic jewellery. Pieces of India (Asia) and Moroccan are so colorfull compared to Ethiopian pieces. So also the dress wear.
Sarah thank you for the info. I must get the map of Morocco ,although I can visualise it.
Natalie, I have seen this floral design on other pendants from this area, but I have no idea if there is a specific meaning associated with it. Perhaps Sarah knows.
the repetitions of six leaves/petals and the six dots around the central suggest a style of Jewish Origin, The Oases in the south are in close proximity to historical jewish trade routes to the Sahara. This wide striped bail is often seen in the draa valley and coins are more usual than the 'flowers'.. in fact the partly hidden pendant on the top piece here seems to be made with a centre drilled coin
Thank you Sarah. That is very interesting information.
I have seen these pendants in an image from Ait Seddratte in the Draa valley .
