  Hi Linda , welcome to ethnic jewels. I believe this is from the Saryk group. The inlay and involved cut work as well as the layers of enhanced well worked engraved design are all classic Saryk style.  If the photo was a bit brighter I could see a bit better the age of it, but to me thus far looks like it's end of first quarter to second half of the 20th c.

  Thank you Linda for that information and welcome :-). I've been searching the internet for information but have been having difficulty finding anything specific. Do you know the approximate value? I've seen a very similar one for around $600.

  It is also possible that this is Teke from oasis of Achal. There are subtle variations but its the other group that uses the simlar decoration.  The more i look at the style of the engraving patterns i think it could be from this group instead.  I'm look at the engraving particularly on the triangular section and the designs are used from pieces from the oasis of Achal.

  It would be more valuable if it were a bit older and this style was expensive at one time, I think 600 is fair if not a bit under priced.  It really depends on how you are selling it.  i think it's a good value for that amount. How long have you had it?

  Thanks again for your time and info Linda! I've only recently purchased them, along with many other items from my supplier in Afghanistan. For the past few years I have dealt mainly in jewellery from that area to sell to fellow dancers, but have become interested in items such as this and some tapestries. I have no idea where to sell these items, it is all still new to me. I have only just come across this website. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated :-)

   I think it really depends on what you pay for things as well  as the age and quality.  The price range of this is easier for most people so in most cases you would have an easier time of it for those that are looking for one. i can not suggest as I have sold to clients I mostly meet at shows I have done over the years.. This sight is good as many people see it and if anyone likes it and they know you are selling, they will ask. Most of the people using the sights are collectors and or are interested in the history of ethnic jewels.  Some of us both collect and sell, while others are also dealers.

  I would love to sell what I have, but as I am unsure about origin and history etc of each item, feel rather hesitant when I comes to writing a description. I guess I can only put it out there, and let interested people fill in the blanks? lol. Of course I will learn more as I go along. Thank you again for your input, I really appreciate it.
