Ornament from Russia

This ornament was sourced in the South of Russia. Was it perhaps part of a belt or necklace? Could it be of Tatar origin? The attached coin is a 20 Kopek piece dating from 1879. Any comments or ideas welcome!

  • I have no idea about its origin - but I like the old coin!

  • In the meantime I found out that this might very well be an element of a Tatar braid decoration called "chulpy"
