This is very nice! Apparently Libyans use a similar woven belt called "besh-mar." I haven't managed to find any in Tunis yet.
I was told this was Tunisian when I purchased it in Paris from a Tunisian dealer however I don't know if that is the case as I have seen it published as either of the above and stylisticly it is more of Oman. Do you know if these are actually used in Tunisia? If you do, then I need to change the description as I have never seen one published as Tunisia.
I have yet to find one of these, although I have been looking. There is a book on Libyan jewelry by Alberini that shows these types of chains. I have a number of books on Tunisian jewelry and this type of belt is not mentioned. There are some "cubicle" type chains in Tunisia but not quite as tightly woven. Ayis is much more expert on this, perhaps he would offer you an opinion.
